Description

I Was Born Of Water on CD

He's performed in bands opening for the likes of The Roots and Ivan Neville. He studied piano and Hammond B-3 from the masters in New Orleans.

After rambling from river town to river town, he settled down in Kansas City. With years of songs under his belt, Revere Rivers was ready to record an album. The VP of Virgin Music Group, Steve Weatherby, spots his talents and suggests connecting Revere with Los Angeles-based record producer Marvin Etzioni, who has worked with Lone Justice, Counting Crows, and Trombone Shorty, to name a few. Revere suggested to Marvin, let's try one song together and see what happens.

After completing the Revere original "Lofty Politics," their fate had been sealed. They took their time finishing what is now the debut album I Was Born of Water. The album features James Gadson (Marvin Gaye, Bill Withers, McCartney) on drums on the opening track and first single, "A Girl Named Happiness" (another Revere original soon to be a classic). Horn arranger David Ralicke (Beck, The Shins, Morrissey) arranged horns for the entire album. Think Stax, early Van Morrison, and Gil Evans as influences.

Revere Rivers is a third-generation musician. His grandfather played the drums (a gift that was passed down to Revere) and his father is a cool seasoned bassist who is part of the rhythm section throughout the album.

Mastered by Bernie Grundman (Herb Alpert, Cat Stevens, George Harrison), the sound is authentic and pure. No auto-tune, no grid, no net below the trapeze. Revere Rivers and company are playing for keeps.
