Phase First on CD

Xtet Project: Lars H. Kurverud Xtet Project is an experimental band, which mostly plays compositions by Lars H. Kurverud. The project was initiated in the autumn 2004 and works regularly with new music. The musicians and the size of the band may vary from time to time, and has earlier done concerts as a septet with French horn, voice and baritone sax, quartet and duo. The simple base of the band comes from a trio with sax, bass and guitar. New musicians and guests can join the band for only a single concert, or for longer periods of time. The music stands between many genres, and the musicians feels free to find inspiration from non-western music from rock, fusion, classical music and from many forms of jazz. The composed music the band plays is written and arranged as sketches and plain ideas, and the musicians in the band is relatively free to how they want to do the different compositions. Improvisation is always a very significant part of this project's music. Expect great music, often meditative, but with distorting elements. Everything from delicate and quiet, to irritating and hurting sounds. Lars H. Kurverud and Xtet Project is also linked to the young and innovative musicians collective "Kennel Collective" in Oslo. Kennel Collective is a genre independent collective and network of musicians and bands of all genres working in the underground scene in Oslo. The collective arranges an annual festival called Kennel Connects where our members present other bands and musicians that we want to present to others, but that is not directly related to the collective. Members from the collective will sometimes also play in different contexts at the festival, but never as one of the collectives' bands.
