RYAN HAGELMAN aka The Bad Eskimo Biography Born in San Francisco in 1986 to parents with careers in architecture and design, Ryan's future creative talents would be discovered through music and composition. Years of devoted guitar lessons and self study began at age ten. Throughout his youth, the family moved from San Francisco to Los Angeles, to Memphis, to the Detroit area and finally to Las Vegas in 2005. On his sixteenth birthday Ryan was hired as a guitar instructor at Axis Music Academy. The professional musicians from Axis often included Ryan as their rhythm guitarist for Detroit gigs. "Sheer Funk & Misery" was a popular band Ryan co-founded as rhythm guitarist while at Lahser High School in Michigan. After graduating early with honors from high school, Ryan went on to Chapman University in California. The choice of a Business Economics major was soon overrun with a growing passion for philosophy and art, which inspired his lyrical writing. His original songs and newfound voice were rehearsed at coffee houses and open mike nights at bars under a pseudo character known as "The Bad Eskimo." In Las Vegas, Ryan conspired with Thaddeus Corea, a professional drummer and son of jazz icon, Chic Corea. Together they recorded and produced Ryan's original nine-song album, Psychadelicate. "Psychedelic Folk Rock" is the genre Ryan has coined as his style. With a vast knowledge of music history and styles, his most infinitive influences include; Joe Pass, Sly Stone, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Mississippi Fred Mc Dowell, Nick Drake, Josh Homme, and John Frusciante. Ryan plays acoustic and electric guitars, lap steel, and bass as a strong rhythm composer, and currently resides in downtown Los Angeles. Psychadelicate released August 2007 on the Igloo Studios Inc. label.
