Reggie Braxton on CD

If one were to describe the vocal stylings of Reggie Braxton, you would use adjectives like Remarkable, Engaging, Warm, Powerful and Captivating. Reggie Braxton didn't start out to be an entertainer. His desire was to be a star athlete. He excelled at basketball and was a leading scorer at Western High School and the Detroit Institute of Technology. Growing up there was always music in the house. His grandmother, Gladys English would sing him to sleep with 'Since I Fell For You' written by Buddy Johnson. Associations with Piano greats Ben Jones and the late Dr. Teddy Harris along with Sax men Bobby Barnes and Miller Brisker inspired and encouraged him to develop as a pianist and vocalist. As a result, Reggie made his foray into musical performance with Native Detroit Guitarist Calvin Brooks. This dynamic duo was a constant on the Jazz Scene. Reggie has performed with other great Detroit Musical icons like, Allan Barnes, Ray McKinney and Eileene Ore of Straight Ahead. He has graced the stages of Dummy George's, Intermezzos, Birmingham Jazz and Toronto Caribbean festivals as well as Motor City, MGM Grand and Greektown Casinos. Reggie was a featured artist on 'After Hours' a cable network show produced by Rodney Brown. Additionally, Mr. Brown featured Reggie on the show 'Motor Town Music Central' that aired in 22 states, Canada, Bermuda the Canary and Virgin Isles. Mr. Brown was the Executive Producer on this show as well. Reggie's musical repertoire is eclectic. He loves to perform the kind of music that inspires people to fall in love. When he sings, he owns the stage. He can sing a Country and Western tune and give it a soulful flair or he can mellow out a Hip-Hop grove. It really doesn't matter. His job as an entertainer is to marry the lyric to the melody, to create the melodic intimacy of bringing two people together. From the first note to the final curtain, a Reggie Braxton performance is simply awesome.
