Honky Tonk Ranch on CD

Honky Tonk Ranch, the new CD by Pop Wagner and the Twin City Playboys features Cajun, Western Swing, Classic Country and some original material influenced by those genres .... \'honky tonk music\' is a good way to describe it. AN EDUCATIONAL NOTE: Cajun French has been spoken in Southwest Louisiana and East Texas since the mid 1700\'s. As in any foreign language literal translation rarely conveys the intended meaning. The word \'tit (note the apostrophe) is a Cajun French contraction of the French word petit (fem. Form petite). It is pronounced \'TEE\' with a long \'e\' for the vowel sound and the second \'t\' is silent. A \'tit fer (pronounced: TEE FUR, literally: little iron) is a musical instrument many call the Cajun triangle. \'Tit Galop (pronounced: TEE gull OH, literally: little gallop) actually means canter. The Cajun French word \'tit often appears in print spelled phonetically as tee in order to avoid misconceptions. We have chosen to stick with the authentic spelling. In order to derail another possible misconception, I would like to point out the the name of the band the Twin City Playboys is intended as a nod of tribute to the many Cajun and Western Swing bands in Texas and Louisiana since the early part of the 20th century that have used the name, Texas Playboys, Lawtell Playboys, Mamou Playboys and Zydeco Playboys just to mention a few. There is no connection whatsoever nor reference intended to the magazine. We hope you enjoy Honky Tonk Ranch!
