Phil & Pep's Scratch Pad on CD

Phil and Pep have performed with assorted musical groups, from combos to big bands, and are a popular jazz duo about Salt Lake City. Both men have given back to their craft; Pep as a judge for 16 years at the annual Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in Moscow, Idaho, and Phil with several original jazz compositions. Pep Peters - Alto Sax His high school music career ended when he joined the army in 1946 and played in several army bands. After the army, he continued playing while earning a composite degree in music, English, and anthropology. When he was called back during the Korean conflict, he mothballed his horn for the next 25 years. After military retirement, he added a master's degree in ethnology. Then within a few years, he joined the local jazz society. From that point he played with numerous groups, including those he shared with his newfound friend, Phil Terry, pianist. Phil Terry - Piano Phil, like many adolescents, began basic piano lessons at age eight. Five years later, interest waning, his brother, an accomplished pianist, had him listen to popular jazz pianist, Errol Garner, and jazz had him entranced. Phil emulated the great piano players as he taught himself to play while earning his degree in engineering. Playing with several groups, he became a member and president of the local jazz society. He was destined to form this great musical association with Pep Peters, saxophonist. Also appearing are veteran drummer, Wayne Coons, along with Steve Pappas on electric bass.
