Sepia Session on CD

"From Dizzy Gillespie to Stevie Wonder... From Brazil '66 to Route 66... Shaken, stirred, and served with Soul!" Building on the legacy of guitarists such as Laurindo Almeida and Charlie Byrd, Peter Aglinskas infuses his music with elements from the contemporary worlds of jazz, funk and rock, with technique firmly rooted in the classical music tradition. Recipient of the Chicago Cultural Department's "Artists International" Award, Peter Aglinskas has been delighting audiences for more than two decades with his signature guitar style. 'Sepia Session' features Peter's solo guitar arrangements of jazz and pop gems with an Afro-Latin spin. Conjuring up an era when the atmosphere was sultry and the soundtrack to a romantic night was woven by the intricate musings of a nylon string guitar, 'Sepia Session' invokes the spirit of the barrio on Carlos Santana's 'Samba Pa Ti', the kora and kalimba of Mother Africa on Mongo Santamaria's 'Afro Blue', and even the deep Delta blues of Yazoo City, Mississippi in the incessant bass line of Peter's unique take on Burt Bacharach's loungy classic 'The Look of Love'. The tracks on 'Sepia Session' were recorded on analog reel-to-reel tape before being mixed and mastered in the digital domain. The result is an album that captures the richness of expression and warmth of tone that distinguish Peter's approach to the guitar.
