Back to You on CD

Magic Hat Sound Recordings is pleased to announce the second semi-solo release by Paul Waters: 'Back To You'. 'Back To You' takes a slightly new direction and features much more instrumentation than 'Goon Show', released last year. Paul is joined on this album on several tracks by former bandmates Iain Hadgraft, (Lead Guitar) and David Spurlock (Bass and Vocals). Besides nine tracks both penned and performed by Paul, there is also 'To Girl in Her Bedroom Waiting' written by Waters, and sung mainly by Spurlock. Listeners will find many more full band performances that juxtapose nicely with the raw demo quality of 'Goon Show'. However, Paul still displays his mastery of the Singer-Songwriter genre with the intimate 'In Between' and 'I Could See For Miles'. Among the other highlights are 'Lovely (What You've Done)', a song made locally popular by Paul's band 'The Lindley Park', the title track 'Back To You' with it's infectious room-filling reprise, a group re-make of 'I'm Alright' from 'Goon Show', and the personal and personally pleasing and honest 'Anywhere But Here'. Unlike Paul's first solo effort, this album was slated for release from it's inception. Paul's music and songwriting have been compared with legends such as Dylan and Lennon, and on this album he doesn't disappoint. Listeners will find themselves entranced once again by a unique quality that was described by one critic as 'the one thing that puts him over the top'.
