One Step Away on CD

Patti Powell WWVA Original Jamboree Recording Artist, TV and Radio Patti Powell was born and raised in North Georgia. She started singing professionally in the Atlanta area, working on several television shows and making personal appearances. Author Wayne W. Daniel, in his book Pickin' On Peachtree, notes that Patti was a regular on a tv show that aired on Sunday nights on one of the Atlanta TV station in 1967-68. Patti recorded her first record while she was in Atlanta before moving to Wheeling, WV to become a part of the Worlds Original WWVA Jamboree in April 1969. Shortly after joining the Jamboree, she teamed up with another WWVA Star, Bob Gallion, recording several duets and touring together. They billed their efforts the 'Bob Gallion - Patti Powell Show' and appeared before audiences throughout the Eastern part of the United States and Canada. Ivan Tribe, in his book Mountaineer Jamboree described the duets that Bob & Patti did as 'hard type of country duet'. Another highlight during the 1970's was when the Jamboree was doing special shows. Two of these were the 'Truckers Jamboree' shows held in September 1972 and 1973. The fans were treated to the appearances of Dick Curless, Red Simpson, Red Sovine, Dave Dudley and Patti Powell was a part of these shows with her hit song, 'Long Haul Widow'. Bob Gallion passed away in 1999. Patti Powell continues to record her distinct vocal style of traditional country, bluegrass and gospel music and has a new album scheduled for release January 7, 2009, titled 'One Step Away'. Freddy Carr at American Country Gold says 'What A Grand Lady of Song' ...this new album will treat you to the absolute very best of real American Country Gold.
