Weddings School & Other Disasters on CD

Patsy Hatfield Lawson is a descendant of four feuding mountain families, the Hatfield - McCoy, and the lesser known, Greene - Jones. She is an award winning professor and family therapist who grew up in East Tennessee in the Appalachian Mountains. Patsy was surrounded by her parents and some 20 plus aunts, uncles, and cousins who spent their evenings gathered on the front porch, sharing stories about themselves and their community. She watched quietly while these aunts and uncles adjusted to change along with living out their traditional mountain values. Patsy is a professional speaker and storyteller combining her extensive knowledge of psychology, counseling to provide story programs that offer hope, humor and understanding. In December of 2004 Patsy's story, "Trip To Memphis" was chosen by National Public Radio (NPR) for a Christmas Eve program focused on Appalachia. She has produced three storytelling CD's, "Perfect Quilts and Burnt Coffee", and "Aunt Ruby's Funeral Trip", and \'Weddings School and Other Disasters\'. In the Fall of 2006 "Aunt Ruby's Funeral Trip" was nominated for Best Storytelling CD by Just Plain Folks. "Patsy is a lot like three other well known mountain women: She has the energy of Granny Clampet; the country of Minnie Pearl and the voice and body of Dolly Parton, from the neck up." Comment from a Senior Citizen.
