Description

Chica on CD

Otomy starts where the great music of the 90's left off. Using a dying macintosh, pro tools, various drummers and their imagination, CHICA was entirely recorded and mixed by otomy in livingrooms, bedrooms, hallways, and occasionally the bathroom. In the end, the final mixed album was sent to a mastering studio to Polish off the rough edges, but other than that the album was entirely produced in-house, literally. Otomy is a Phoenix, Arizona based group which originated from Flagstaff, Arizona. After the band members ventured on various life quests, they all ended up back in Phoenix, exchanging pine trees for cactus. Following the departure of yet another drummer (the story of their lives), otomy embarked on a year-long process to record a studio quality album, without the use of a professional recording studio or a full-time drummer. Throughout the years, otomy has been influenced by one band or another. CHICA is the culmination of these influences in otomy's own unique style. Every song will challenge you intellectually and emotionally, and show you how the future of music should be. The short, but not complete, list of influences includes: A Perfect Circle, Alice in Chains, Audioslave, Bad Religion, Failure, Foo Fighters, Helmet, Inch, Jane's Addiction, Led Zeppelin, NIN, Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, Pixies, Primus, Quicksand, Rage Against The Machine, Soundgarden, and Tool. Take a listen, and you tell us...
