Notes from the Otherground on CD

Otherground Project Group is a collective of creativity, founded by Benedict Haller in 2009. The group was sprung out of the need to pool ideas, knowledge, needs and forces of various people with an urge to create something, somewhere, sometime. In a time when identity is being replaced with image, where instinct is being replaced with rationality, and where consistency of thought and value works as indication of sanity, we have found the need to claim the opposite. We believe, not only that insanity is natural, but also that it actually is humanity in it's purest form. Consistency of thought and value is an illusion; an expensive simplification of the complex development of human mind. The constant variation of empirical input to a subject can only result in a constant change in human mind itself, and so the creational force and interpretative tendency is, and has always been, of a forever-changing nature. As skepticism is one of the corner stones in our epistemology, so has it also been an influence in our relation to art. The red thread of a series of works of art can only be found in the mind of the creating subject itself, and therefore the striving for objective consequence in our work is out of the question. Instead, the uncertainty of the shape and form of upcoming works brings an ongoing interest for ourselves in the next thing we do, as all we assume is that it in few ways will in be similar to the previous. Should another subject but ourselves ever find interest in what we do, we should be very happy for that, and congratulate both it and ourselves for sharing a piece of abstraction together. Just as all that is of this world is in constant change, so are we, and so is this site. People will come, and people will go. News will be shared, and news will be forgotten. All we can really wish for is that in a certain time and place, all of this makes no sense whatsoever...
