Romantic Piano Trio on CD

The Orion Music Ensemble began in 1990 when The Metropolitan Museum of Art arranged for informal chamber music to be performed each weekend at the museum. The ensemble performs in the instrumentations of Piano Trio, Piano Quartet and Piano Quintet and specializes in the repertoire of Classical,Romantic and 20th Century chamber music. Violinist and founder Beryl Diamond Chacon began OME in the early 1980's upon her graduation from The Juilliard School of Music. She studied with Sally Thomas and was coached in chamber music by Josef Gingold. She is very active in programming and performing chamber music and acoustic jazz in New York. While she has recorded for numerous artists, The Romantic Piano Trio is her first CD on her own label. Cellist David Calhoun studied at The Juilliard School with Channing Robbins. Extremely active in the chamber music field, he has also served as principle cellist with the American Ballet Theatre, the Brooklyn Philharmonic and the American Symphony orchestras. His recordings include the Complete Beethoven String Trios (Epiphany Records) and a recording in 2001 of Philip Glass' Cello Concerto as the cello soloist. Pianist Brian Suits completed his Masters Degree at the University of Southern California, studying with Brooks Smith, the renowned pianist for Jascha Heifetz. He was on the faculty of Yale from 1990 through 2002. He is a prolific composer, chamber music performer and conductor. His recordings of 23 solo CD's containing 36 sonatas of Beethoven, Haydn and Mozart were released in Korea (Chung-Eum Records) in 1995. Recently Mr. Suits released a solo CD recording of original works (Musikdorf Records). His Concerto for Piano was premiered in December 2003 in Seoul, Korea.
