Description

Mormon Blues on CD

Was a nerdy kid in Buddy Holly glasses with a book. Got scared silly by being drafted during the Viet Nam War and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Beautiful and compassionate woman befriended him. She didn't know how to be unkind so she married him (I wrote a song about that called 'Uncontrolled Compassion'). Used GI bill to prepare for a job where he would have to do as little actual work as possible, college professor. Frittered his life away with big ideas and guitar strings. Presently holds a day-job as a Professor of Infectious diseases at a small liberal arts college in Colorado. (If you want the facts they would look like this. Numerous chaotic musical influences, at a young age, from a Father who owned a music store and liked big bands, a brother who was 10 years older and liked Hank Williams, and a Sister who was five years olders and like musicals. * Born and raised in Grand Junction, Co. * Learned 'Stormy Monday Blues' from a friend while sitting around a campfire when 10 yrs. Old * Learned 'Trouble in Mind' when 11. * Numerous chaotic musical influences over next 10 years. This was the time of Dylan, Stones, Beatles, Donovan, James Taylor, Chad Mitchell Trio, and Viet Nam stuff. * Convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints * Sealed in Swiss Temple of same Church to Gaydra Further Chaotic musical influences from Dire Straits,BTO, and the whole 80's scene. * Four children (2 and 2) * 13 Grandchildren * 4 guitars, four mandolins, one banjo and a Bouzouki (at present, and not counting numerous harmonicas, nose flutes, bones, and miscellany)
