Moonlight Sonata on CD

The Octavia Harp Ensemble is a group of eight outstanding harpists who have played together for many years. Their Classical recording 'Moonlight Sonata' is something that you will have to hear to believe. The instrumentation on this beautiful recording is simple, yet very complex -- eight concert grand harps and nothing else. Each song is arranged for an eight piece chamber ensemble, but each part is played by a harp. It is truly magical to hear each harp, playing something different, yet blending together like an orchestra of 356 strings. The Octavia Harp Ensemble is comprised of eight outstanding professional harpists from the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area. Founded in 1993 by director Laura Logan, the ensemble presented it's much anticipated premiere concert in the spring of 1994. Since that time, the ensemble has been much in demand presenting concerts in North Texas, Austin, Houston, Oklahoma and Louisiana. The ensemble's wide ranging repertoire reaches from the 17th to the 21st century and incorporates a variety of musical styles. From the group's inception, Octavia has been dedicated to commissioning and promoting new compositions for harp ensemble. Members of the Octavia Harp Ensemble have over 185 combined years of professional experience. The group includes respected harp soloists and many of the players are much in demand as entertainers in the pop and jazz field. Members perform with the Fort Worth Symphony, Dallas Symphony, Dallas Opera Orchestra, Richardson Symphony, Garland/Las Colinas Symphony, Turtle Creek Chorale and the Dallas Wind Symphony.
