Harp of Brandiswhiere on CD

Noah Brenner is a versatile performer with ability in many musical styles and instruments. In addition to performing on the Celtic harp, his primary instrument, he sings, tells stories, and also plays the viola in both an Argentine tango band called Los Bandidos del Tango and a Balkan folk music ensemble known as Baladina. He composes and does many of his own arrangements. ------- The story and music on this album were written by Sylvia Woods and her brother Tom Woods. With the help of poet Peggy Godfrey and actor Chad Rabinovitz, Noah put the story into his own words, made additions of his own, and turned it into a visual as well as an auditory performance (though the audio on this CD is wonderful on it's own). Noah has performed this story for audiences in venues as widely varied as preschools, high schools, retirement communities, libraries, and public concerts. His performance has been warmly received everywhere. The legend of the Harp of Brandiswhiere takes place in a time when evil sorcerers abound and harpers perform magic with their music. Most of the story takes place on the harpers' isle -- a magical island accessible only by a harper's music -- which is created during the prologue by an old master harper named Lyris. This island is later beset by an evil sorcerer by the name of Gourenspur and must be defended by Brandiswhiere, the master harper of that time. Brandiswhiere is also concerned about the wellbeing of his apprentice Telena who is on the island with him. Due to the fact that each piece of the story runs smoothly into the next, there are only two tracks on this album corresponding to the first and second half which are often separated by a short intermission during a performance. Part one 33:13 The Legend In the Forest Telena Dialogue with a Brook Gypsy Mirage Lament Gourenspur Part two 18:19 The Harper's Vision The Battle Metamorphosis Brandiswhiere's Triumphant Return ------- Noah Brenner lives in Eugene, Oregon where he attends the University of Oregon. He supports himself entirely on his music and has an obsession with Argentine tango.
