Blacksburg Virginia on CD

Dividing her time between London, the English countryside and her beloved Virginia, Nicolle's varied life and music are one. Her inspirations are as diverse as the four corners of America where her family and friends live, the Europe many of them left two generations ago, and the politics and history that has shaped these extraordinary times. As a playwright Nicolle has written music for theatre, as a protestor she has written songs of political struggle and anti- war, and most recently her songs reflect a life lived thoughtfully, a desire to change the world not by revolution but armed with a heart full of hope: a weapon whose ammunition never runs out. Nicolle's debut single reflects the experiences of her travels - a life less ordinary, a life currently shining a reflective spotlight on her American roots. This ex-New Yorker learned her Dylan and Baez on the streets of Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village, studied English in England and stayed, creating a life forever see-sawing between beloved family and friends both sides of the Atlantic, enriching her writing and her songs. Through her Virginia family she discovered a love of Virginian countryside, it's mountains, trails and people. Her forthcoming album reflects this, covering a wide spectrum of life in America - with humour and heartfelt experience. (Album expected later this year) One April night in 2007, knotted up, frightened and moved by Virginia Tech's tragedy - which she feared may have involved her own family - Nicolle resorted to her old comfort, hugging a guitar, as she penned Blacksburg at 4am. Anti-guns - especially in a state that has had more than it's share of horrific gun crime - Nicolle's song has put music to what is in the hearts and minds of millions of Americans, and has connected with the raw instinct we have to protect our young, to preserve and treasure all life. Blacksburg is an anthem to all generations of Americans, imploring us to listen and to act, in an America that is so loved, before it is lost.
