Flame on! on CD

With no respect for the past and one eye on the future, Nero Burns take their cue from 50's punkabilly, 60's garage punk and 70's punk rock. Then they throw it in a blender, put it through a distortion pedal and let it loose on an unsuspecting world, their use of programmed drums and sounds giving their noirish swampabilly a retro-futuristic edge. Nero Burns have played the gamut of notorious rock n roll dives big and small, from their surreal London debut in an oriental supermarket to the Dogzstar Club in Istanbul, and have shared stages with bands ranging from the Meteors and Nekromantix to Gallon Drunk and Heavy Trash. Formerly London-based, this Anglo-American outfit now divides it's time between Slovenia and the UK, and have recently played gigs in Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Macedonia. Their debut CD, 'Flame On!', was hailed as a 'cracking little platter' by Simon Nott in Big Cheese Magazine. Excerpt from article by Graham Russell, Razorcake #8 - 'London trio Nero Burns take unvarnished 1950s rockabilly, turbo-charge it with 21st century technology and tart it up in glistening fetish-y PVC and fishnets. The results, on echo-drenched death ray blasts like 'Zombie Queen' and 'Missing Link', sound souped-up, swampy and propulsive. Leader Nero himself describes them as 'a noisy, f***ed-up rock'n'roll/trashabilly garage punk band who don't mind using a bit of programming to add to the noise.' Think fake leopard skin. Think Gene Vincent in his snarling, side-burned prime in a studded dog collar. Think of a leather-bound, ball-gagged Bettie Page. Think of Nero Burns as the perfect soundtrack to your next bondage session.' Review of 'Zombie Queen ep', Trollzine #18 - 'Wow this is the shit - 3 tracks of laid back cool n scuzzy f***ed up rock n roll that drips evil in every note - close your eyes and you can feel some voodoo graveyard shit going down - yeah I would sell my soul to whichever demon they worship - awesome.'
