Future Is Now on CD

I take great pride in presenting my debut album, 'The Future is Now.' Having been a music lover nearly all of my life, I consider this album as a coming to fruition of really 'finding myself' musically. I was an avid listener of popular songs on the radio as early as the age of 5. By the time I reached 9 or 10, I took piano lessons for a couple of years (really my mother's idea), which came in handy in the future. In high school, I discovered I had a good singing voice. I would sing many of the popular songs of that era to myself, but was too shy to pursue this skill before audiences. Decades later, having overcome my shyness, I started performing in karaoke events in clubs, and still do so today. I have been thrilled not only at the sound of my own vocalizing, but also at the rounds of applause I have often received. In addition, I have written numerous songs of my own, hoping ultimately to put them into the form of attractive, professionally recorded music. I practiced them on an electronic keyboard/synthesizer, a device which did not exist in my younger years, which can produce the sound of virtually any instrument, by playing it like a piano and pressing various buttons, often producing additional amazing delightful results. Modern technology continued to keep apace with the introduction of recording software. It become much easier than decades ago to not only produce recorded music of high quality, but to correct or edit the music and with much more compact equipment that could be operated in an ordinary apartment. While a recording artist could still utilize 'live' musicians as in the past, he/she could avoid the expense by using a synthesizer, as I have done in this CD, in which the sounds originating from the synthesizer have become the background to my vocals. I was introduced to a home-based recording studio (known as Olive Juice Music) in New York City, which was a nice 'fit' for me. Upon my using the technology mentioned above (including, of course, a computer), the final results consisted of music of a seemingly similar quality to the work of many of my favorite artists which I have enjoyed for decades. I found great joy and emotional satisfaction in the recording process, seeing the final product evolve, right before my eyes. While I leave it to my listeners to make their own judgment, I believe that much of the 'feel' of the pop music from the 1950's, 60's and 70's is reflected in my songs on this CD. I tried my best to come up with strong melodies and arrangements, and meaningful (sometimes catchy, I believe) lyrics and song ideas. I believe I have a good variety of song types. Some of my songs I consider intensive, melodic ballads; others I consider soft rock; and still others are funny novelty songs. There is unusual subject matter in many of my songs - two are descriptions of cities, one is about 'red sauce' (not spaghetti sauce), one is about a basketball player, many tell stories (including a true story of how I went to high school with a guy who became a national music celebrity) and one is totally an instrumental that seems to sound like a movie theme of a love story. To my would-be listeners and fans, I am sure you will find something in 'The Future is Now' that is distinctively enjoyable, inspirational, or thrilling. Best wishes to all.
