Stray Dog on CD

With a sophisticated, bluesy style all her own, singer-songwriter Nathalie Michel brings to the stage a sultry sensuous vibe and a voice like honey. From Canada to the United States, to the Bahamas, Nathalie's travels began early. Her taste for freedom and adventure took her all over the continent; hitchhiking to Mexico, living on the streets of Vancouver, often seeing life's wild, darkly comic underside, and all of this is reflected in her music. At 15 years old, Nathalie was already a studio singer for Frank Penn, in Freeport, Grand Bahama. Soon after returning to Montreal, she was working in clubs alongside prominent Montreal musicians like the late, great jazz guitarist Ivan Symonds, at the same time as completing a B.F.A. in Music. She has played extensively in and around Montreal, Quebec and across Canada. Her experience ranges from elite private functions to blues bars, from cigar lounges to outdoor festivals. Nathalie has released two independent cds of original music, 'Necessary Illusions' and 'Stray Dog', both written, arranged and produced by Nathalie. Her original music has been featured in film and in choreography by Neelanthi Vadivel (Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal). In 2003, Nathalie was chosen as a featured artist on CBC/GM Canada's 'Online Festival Dreamstream'. Nathalie has recently relocated to Calgary, Alberta, and continues singing and building her performance career, as well as writing for herself, for other artists, for film and television.
