Heavenly Christmas on CD

HEAVENLY CHRISTMAS blends reverent classical music with contemporary folk arrangements to evoke a festive mood. 'Joy to the World,' 'Ave Maria,''Sheep May Safely Graze' and 'Good King Wenceslas' would be at home on a classical album while 'A la Media Noche,' 'Fum, Fum, Fum' and 'Deck the Halls' rock. 'Winter Melody' and 'Shepherd's Carol' are sweet and soul-soothing Nancy Fierro originals. Each of the 12 pieces on this album is given it's own individual treatment. Nancy created all the music using virtual harp, cello, flute, strings, and other orchestral instruments. NANCY FIERRO Los Angeles based composer, arranger and pianist Nancy Fierro has produced six albums: 'Premiere Performances of Music by Women'; 'The Romance of Women's Music'; 'Riches and Rags,' 'Nancy Fierro Live, 'A Joyful Noel' (with flutist Patty Sikorski) and her most recent 'Heavenly Christmas.' Besides composing and arranging, Nancy also wears many other hats...pre-concert lecturer for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, concert pianist, trailblazing researcher and performer of music by women and a medievalist. In the nineties she spent five years delving into the life and music of the spectacular genius and polymath Hildegard of Bingen. After extensive research, study and three trips to Hildegard's homeland in Germany, Nancy produced a written monograph and spoken album entitled 'Hildegard of Bingen and Her Vision of the Feminine' where she discusses the life and music of 12th century mystic and composer.
