At Dub Corner on CD

Dub lovers seeking modern masters imbued with the spirit of King Tubby, Scientist, Barnabas and Jo Jo Hookim need look no further than Mossman V.s. Mr. Tsunami Dispensation, a fully satisfying dub set that's heavy on the bass and drum. The absolute lack of dub cliches is refreshing. Mossman puts his love of dub to good use on this instant classic that places him in the ranks of dub masters of yore while he navigates a path through the new roots quagmire into an echo-laden reverberting space-invading vista of sound. Chuck Foster ( The Beat Magazine ) Montreal's Moss Raxlen returns from his heavyweight match with the World Bank from the year 2000 for a friendlier studio-based tussle with a Mr.Tsunami. Clearly a possessor of a large and unruly collection of Jamaican 7's, disparate channels of influence run deep into Mossman's studio processes with an early Perry style impinging on Churros Dub and a later strain of Perry taking over for the following track So Good! Moon Blues and it's dub version stop this side of crossover and locate the sound more along the sweeter lines recently occupied by Japan's Dry & Heavy. Avoiding the kind of vacuous experimentation sometimes associated with nu dub, Mossman elects to go for tunes - it never fails! Steve Barker ( Wire Magazine )
