Mondrae Williams grew up in the Rhema Christian Fellowship Church located on Long Island in North Lindenhurst. His first recollection of music was on Sunday morning curled up in his mothers lap listening to the Rhema Senior Choir sing. Mondrae's grandmother, Mrs. Jimmie Williams knew that her first grandson was gifted. As an infant Mondrae's aunt, Cynthia Joe would recall how he would awaken during the night and contentedly sing himself back to sleep. At around six years of age, Jimmie recalls how Mondrae would disappear into the bathroom and sing for hours. She reasoned that the bathroom had the best acoustics in the house, and Mondrae liked the amplified sound of his voice. Mondrae was a natural. By the time he was eight years old, his mother Charmaine Williams, his grandmother introduced him to the piano and insisted he joined the Rhema Youth Choir. Under the tutelage of his mother, grandmother, and aunt, who all sang and played the piano for Rhema, a place was found for Mondrae's budding musical talents. While other children played stickball and yard games, Mondrae spent every free moment at the piano learning anthems and hymns. He found playing the piano and writing music a natural form of expression. By the time Mondrae was twelve years of age he was also a lead soloist for the choir. At sixteen he was appointed pianist for the popular 100-voice choir, The Voices of Hope, under the direction of Mary Sharpe. At the time he was selected for a tenor position in the ALL COUNTY JAZZ CHOIR and the NEW YORK STATE STUDENT MUSIC ASSOCIATION CHOIR (NYSSMA). He was seventeen years old at the time. By now Mondrae felt confident enough to gather other voices from the community under his direction to establish the Helpers of Joy Community Choir. The Helpers of joy performed at local churches and school events. In the year 2000, Mondrae was installed as the Junior Minister of Music for Rhema Christian Fellowship. As the Junior Minister of Music, Mondrae was the Musical Director for the Rhemas Church, community and devotional Choirs. Mondrae attended Five Towns College of Dix Hills NY and earned a Bachelor of Music Education Degree, June 2002. Currently, Mondrae is the Minister of Music for Faith Works Christian Center in Gastonia NC. By the grace of God, Mondrae's objective is to touch peoples lives as a successful writer and minister of inspirational music.
