MONDO FAX® The Singing Judge MONDO FAX ® (AKA Alan R. Glasser) was born in New York City, but spent most of his time growing up in Southern California. He was confirmed and Bar Mitzvahed in Southern California after ten years of Jewish and Hebrew School. His parents were both dancers in New York (his father danced with Major Bowes Radio Show at Radio City Music Hall). He studied music and began writing songs at the age of five, playing a variety of instruments including guitar, piano, violin and flute. Mondo was a dancer with the American Folk Ballet for eleven years as a child, and was a principal dancer with the Yovail Folk Dancers in Europe and Israel. Mondo studied at UCLA and graduated in Music and Political Science before studying for an advanced degree in Ethnomusicology. He also minored in Theater Arts, and was repeatedly chosen to study acting in the exclusive UCLA Theater Arts Department Acting Specialization program. After these studies, Mondo performed as a guitar player/singer for Olivia Newton-John and for John Davidson and at age twenty-five became the musical director for the Jim Nabors and Natalie Cole shows. Mondo toured with his own successful cabaret show group, performing everywhere from the Plaza Hotel in New York to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. After touring, Mondo returned to UCLA School of Law and graduated at the top of his class, serving as a member of the UCLA LAW REVIEW and writing for the FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS LAW JOURNAL. Afterwards, Mondo became an entertainment attorney, working for Walt Disney Pictures and Television and Saban Entertainment. He has a law practice in Southern California and currently serves as a Judge Pro Tempore in both the Superior and Municipal Courts for the State of California, County of Los Angeles, which he has done for the past eleven years. Mondo is prolific in his music. He recently released four CD's of original irreverent social song parodies that have become staples on MP3.com and Amazon.com. One song, 'Eat My Shorts,' became a national hit recorded by national radio personality, Rick Dees. Mondo wrote and produced his one-explorer musical, Christopher Columbus, The Live Album, premiering in Hollywood, California. Most recently, Mondo's songs 'Saving Hanukkah For Monica' and 'Osama People Make Me Falafel!' ha ve been topping the charts on the MP3.com satire top 40. Mondo also recently released his first World/Folk/Calybossa CD entitled Aquamarine and another comedy CD, OKLAHOMOPHOBIA!. He's got an original children's CD, Songs For The Thoughtful Child and his second folk CD, Just Plain Folk, in the hopper and so is his next comedy CD with Canadian overtones, Boutineer on the Mountie!' Mondo is a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and serves annually as a judge for the Prime Time Emmy awards. Mondo recently completed a second play entitled So's Your Whole Family, which chronicles his years in Southern California with his maternal and paternal Jewish Grandmothers who lived in a walk-up duplex across from each other. Mondo's first fictional novel, Buying Time: A Jaunt In Time and Space, is now available at Amazon.com. He has most recently starred in his own show, Anarchy and Angst, An Evening With Mondo Fax®, the Singing Judge being featured at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, with coverage in all major Australian papers and radio shows and, over time, has received multiple rave reviews from the Los Angeles Times and several other publications. He just finished a rave Scandinavian Tour, and will be performing across the country soon, doing book signings and events, and will be heavily featured on radio and television as a performer and an author!
