One Day I Just Opened Up on CD

Molika 'M.D." Muhammad majored in political science and has a Bachelors of Arts degree from the City College of New York. Molika was born in Brooklyn, New York as Molika Dhanae Hopkins, and then her name was changed not too long after becoming a member of The Nation of Islam. Raised in the birthplace of Hip-Hop, the "Boogie Down" Bronx, Molika begin her journey in the Northeast section of the borough. Her role models were her parents and favorite uncle who was and is a dedicated Christian minister. As a young Christian girl growing up loving Gospel, Jazz, and yes Hip-Hop, she "battled" all of the male MC's in her community who thought they were "fresh" in hallways, schoolyards, and parks. Her influences of the old school are Eric B and Rakim and others, but most of all Queen Latifah as she represented strength and respect for women. The first two initials, M. D., represent her name and transitions of Molika and Dhanae into a metaphor of being a Doctor because she believes that through her poetry, motivational lectures, and her workshops, she is healing people's hearts, minds, and spirits. Molika is a motivational speaker and spoken word artist that brings forth awareness socially ,spiritually, and politically through her fired up poetry. It speaks the Universal language of peace and love. Each rhythm & word operates on your unconsciousness to elicit good feelings of truth and personal empowerment.
