For Sentimental Reasons on CD

When I first met Miki and had the pleasure of hearing her sing, she was tending bar at a quaint little joint in the French Quarter of New Orleans called Donna's Bar & Grill. Upon getting to know her, it wasn't long before I discovered she had natural nusical ability and a passionate unique affection for the music of the city. Donna's presents and hosts some of the prime local musical talent of the city that gave birth to jazz and many distinguished, talented, young and old, curious and hungry have graced Donna's threshold. But none have been more distinguished and talented than Miki Fujii. If I thought Miki could serve a mean cocktail, when I heard her singing voice I was really intoxicated! She was born in Osaka, Japan. Miki is modest, beatuful, delightful and unassuming. And who would have ever thought this quiet little lady has developed into a refreshing jazz vocalist. Listen and enjoy her versions of classics like 'All Of Me', 'Autumn Leaves', 'Fly Me To The Moon', 'Lullaby Of Birdland', 'Honeysuckle Rose' and popular requests of the Crescent City like 'Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans' and 'Down By The Riverside'. Miki is quite capable of delivering a song eloquently, with unrestricted emotion, soul and swing, as you will find out and hopefully enjoy as she presents her debut recording, 'For Sentimental Reasons'. On this disc Miki is accompanied by and features some of New Orleans finest: Matt Lemmler, Stephen Walker, Leon Brown, Geroge French, Todd Duke, Fred Sanders, Shannon Powell, June Yamagishi, John Boutte and yours truly, Leroy Jones...
