Franzman has opened major shows at the prestigious TOAD's PLACE in New Haven, CT for national acts, including: Joan Osborne, Todd Snider, Steve Morse & The Dregs, David Garza, GodStreetWine. On drums, Mike has also performed with Speak No Evil, 404, Frank Critelli, and Mike Lasala. You can hear Franzman's drumming on the hot Mike Lasala release, 'This Strange Place', and the psychedelic Brutally Frank CD, 'You Can't Handle The Truth'. mf 's music has been used in award-winning short films: 'Das Clown' (narrated by John Popper of Blues Traveler), 'Rubber Gloves' & 'Don't Run Johnny', for Bugsby Picture, CA. These films all screened at the Sundance Film Festival anc can now be seen on BRAVO, and IFC. A multi-instrumentalist, Mike Franzman is fluent on drums & percussion, acoustic & electric guitars, bass guitar, and lead vocals, Mike has performed for over 18 years throughout the Northeast as solo artist, & bandmate: As drummer for the power-folk outfit 404, rocker MIKE LASALA, percussionist with grunge-girl group MOLLYCODDLE. As bassist for the ground-breaking BLIND JUSTICE, which featured Gargantua Soul front-man Kris Keyes. Mike also played bass for the retro-funk BOOGIE CHILLUN, and progressive-rock band IMAGES. Press Reviews: 'Local one-man band Franzman does 11 tracks of acoustic-based, full-group folk with a bit of a groove to it. That puts it a hair above the folksinger/songwriter throngs. Franzman writes personal, perceptive lyrics... 'The Last One' is a fine pop tune. 'Blow out the Candle' is a very pretty song. Good release.' - CRAIG GILBERT, NEW HAVEN ADVOCATE 'Don't let the title "mf" fool you; New Haven's Franzman, a longtime local singer/songwriter fixture, is a nice guy, which makes his use of such a choice angry word in 'Some Sunny Day' a little hard to swallow. But that's a nitpick. This collection is worth a listen.' -FRAN FRIED, NEW HAVEN REGISTER.
