Storyville on CD

Bio-michael b kane Veteran of the bar wars: garage bands, barn bands, basement bands, rock bands, blues bands, bluegrass bands, soul bands, r&b bands, funk bands, jazz bands, coffee houses, pubs, and piano bars. After all of this, I'm still on the bus. The songs of Storyville: No AC. A story about driving from southeast Pennsylvania to San Antonio, Texas in a 1955 Buick Century without air conditioning. In August! I Wish It Would Rain. A story about being an impoverished piano player living in the urban "low rent" district. Next Big Thing. A story inspired by spending time in New Orlean, specifically Tulane University, and predicting that New Orleans jazz would come back big. Version of the Blues. Quite simply, a story about the crap on the news. Sally Got a New Ride. A where-are-they-now story concerning Mustang Sally. After getting her big fat feet on the ground, Sally entered into a number of short term relationships. She had two daughters-one that graduated from the University of Delaware in marine biology and another who has spent most of her life in and out of rehab. This second daughter had a child by a prison guard and thrust the responsibility of raising the child upon Sally. Having successfully cared for her granddaughter up to the child's high school graduation, Sally reverts to her salad days. Using her granddaughter's student loan for the down money, Sally buys a new Mustang and casts caution to the winds (fired by massive doses of antidepressants). I Still Dream. A story about being stupid and having to pay for it. El Norte. A story of a Mexican who learns the pitfalls of working in the U. S. of A. Memories for Sale. A story of selling off the past. Stargazer. An oft-heard story about the ramifications of not listening to your mom. Your Good Thing's Gone. An uplifting tale about a taken-for-granted young man who shakes off the shackles of unrequited love. Please Stay. A story of unabashed begging. Gloria Jean. A serious poem for teenage soldiers, whose youth is a casualty of war.
