Work Your Way Back on CD

Hey - it\'s Mike here. Thanks for visiting my debut album\'s CDBaby digs! First off, I just wanted to say that the music on this CD was a labor of love over a 3 year period during my sometimes tumultuous college career. I recorded this album in bedrooms and basements in various places in the state of Ohio, sometimes with close friends, and sometimes all alone with nothing but a cup of joe to keep me company. I hope when listening to this CD that you sense a connection with me and some of the things I\'ve experienced in life, but more important I hope the songs on this CD connect you to yourself and others that you interact with everyday..and maybe some that you haven\'t seen in quite some time. Here\'s a little more about what I do and why I do it - thanks for listening... I write music because I love it. Ever since my grandfather bought me a piano when I was six, I knew that my connection with music was something that would endure the passage of time. I\'ve always been interested in the kinds of songs that connect and meet a person where they are in life. When I listen to music, I look for songs that transcend the ordinary and become an extension of the things I\'m thinking and feeling. In other words, I listen to music because it\'s everything that I am. It can be angry, exposed, incomplete, misunderstood, thoughtful, sad, happy, anything. But there are times when I shuffle through the songs in my music libarary in search of that perfect song and I come up empty. Maybe it\'s because I can't decide how I feel; I\'m just mixed up or I\'m having trouble sorting out my emotions, or maybe it\'s because no song written by somebody else can embody my circumstance. This is the place where my songs are written: the here and now, when nothing else will do. When I sit down and write, I do it unabashedly with my heart on my sleeve. I don\'t write anything only because it sounds good or because I think someone else will like it, I do it because it quenches a creative thirst inside of me that is only satisfied when I sing. In a way, it\'s therapeutic. So when you listen to my songs, I hope that you at least feel the slightest hint of what I felt when I wrote them. If you don\'t like them, I won\'t mind, I\'m not really out to please anyone, necessarily. However, I do hope you support the artists that make music because if they didn\'t, they\'d go crazy. Music is so much more than the notes on a page and if you just relax and listen closely, I think you\'ll understand what I\'m talking about.
