It Is Your Corner. on CD

Less than six months after the release of his debut album It is your corner, singer/songwriter Michael Davis began writing for a follow-up album in a Las Vegas, NV garage/bedroom. In just two months, Michael had written more than 20 songs for the record, which he plans to title These Days I Let In The Light. "The move from Edwardsville (Illinois) to Las Vegas really put me in an uncomfortable place," the 22-year-old Illinoisan says of this writing process. "But the discomfort forced, or rather allowed me to really search for the things that make up these songs and this record. It was a very healthy thing, actually." A worthy follow-up to his 2006 debut, which featured standout tracks such as straight-ahead rocker "No one's gonna help you, son," the fragile and triumphant "Dear Rose," and the dynamic "Thieves," this new collection of tracks shows a significant growth in Michael's songwriting. New songs such as "My Bandaged Eye" and "Let Us Name Our Children" exemplify this growth, full of captivating melodies and seemingly dark, yet strong lyrics. In addition, Michael's melodic and lyrical maturity is even more evident on the whimsical ballad "Strangers Impaired" and the hauntingly uplifting "Go Where I Go." Following a year that featured shows with a wide-range of artists including Athens, GA-based Cinemechanica (Hello Sir Records) and Sweden's Tobias Froberg, Michael is planning many West Coast and Midwest performances in late 2007 and early 2008 and hopes to enter a studio to finally record These Days... with pianist Nathan Jatcko, as well as Clayton Kunstel and Ryan Wasoba (of So Many Dynamos).
