About the Artist: Maureen Anderson - Songwriter Not only a prolific songwriter and a sympathetic teacher, Maureen is an accomplished singer who has performed live and studio sessions all over the world since the seventies. She has sung in genres ranging from Jazz, Funk, Soul, Blues and Latin, through to Rock and Folk Ballads. Her performance background has enabled her to absorb the essence and emotion of so many great songs, and this is conveyed through her own work. Her mini album 'Small Wonder - Big Mystery' is a collection of little life stories. Maureen has a First Class BA Honours Degree in Professional Musicianship, focusing on song writing and teaching, and is currently doing a Masters Degree in Songwriting. As always, she is writing, performing and teaching, and loving every moment. Who's Who: Maureen Anderson - Lead vocals, backing vocals and acoustic guitar Emily Baker - Programming and bits & bobs Steve Anderson - Bass Miles Evemy - Piano Andy Bray - Guitar Recorded & Produced by Emily Baker in 'The Bakery', Brighton, UK Mixed by Mark Flannery at 'Oakwood Lodge', Brighton, UK Mastered by Al Scott at 'Metway Studios', Brighton, UK Album Review: 'Small Wonder - Big Mystery' © 2005 Maureen Anderson 'Small Wonder - Big Mystery' is a little collection of tender stories from Maureen's life, from innocent, child-like ballads such as 'Free', 'I Miss You' and to earthy pieces like 'Get Over It', 'Warrior Woman' and 'Got You Out of My Head', that sparkle and electrify. 'Get Over It' is a testament of tough love from friend to friend, or maybe just looking in the mirror... The drawings on the CD artwork are inspired by 'Free' which seeks that 'stop the world time and place' often craved for... 'I Miss You' reflects on good times had with absent friends, and a sense that they will meet again... 'Warrior Woman' is Every Woman... 'I Got You Out Of My Head' - that great feeling of finally being free from a particular attachment... The soul of this music is touched by artists like Stevie Wonder, Minnie Ripperton, Sergio Mendes, Jill Scott, Angie Stone, Joni Mitchell, Donny Hathaway, and the Carpenters' vocal harmonies. It is a truly moving collection of songs.
