Age of Exploration on CD

'super-earnest folk. Songs about fishing, dreaming, love and butterfly wings. Very pretty...play play play!' -KALX, Berkeley, CA 'very interesting music, peaceful and dedicated' -Bridge Guitar Reviews ---------------- Hello! My name is Matt Halley and I'm a naturalist, musician, songwriter, teacher, backpacker and adventurer! I am 24 years old, and currently live the nomadic lifestyle of an aspiring research biologist. I have been teaching music, environmental education, and outdoor skills for several years. I've taught at several environmental centers, a raptor center, outdoor classrooms, a children's museum, a macaw sanctuary, an afterschool program, and private music lessons; my programs have focused on reptile and amphibian species behavior; 'meet the birds of prey' shows, land development, species diversification, bird field identification, habitat restoration projects, and other conservation issues. I love to play music for children, and have had massive singalongs (imagine 120 2nd graders singing in the chorus!) of environment-related songs. In Spring 2005, I assisted Adam C. Stein in his study of Collared Manakins in remote areas of western Panama. Adam is a Ph.D. canidate in Evolutionary Biology at Syracuse University. For 4 months, I lived in a community of indigenous Guaymi people...10 hours upriver in a dugout canoe, a full day's journey from the nearest road. In Fall 2005, I worked in southern Israel, where I assisted sociobiologist Dr. Amotz Zahavi in his studies of the Arabian Babblers of the Wadi Arava (Negev Desert.) In early 2006 I found myself counting migrating raptors in central Pennsylvania and traveling across Canada on the VIA-Rail. Nesting season began in April, and I worked with a team of biologists to assess the impact of wildfires on reproductive success of songbirds in the high-elevation sagebrush plains of NW Nevada. I recently returned from Indonesia, where I spent September 2006 filming my first travel movie. I am now living in State College, PA, editing and scoring the film. And yes! I'm a musician! I've been writing, teaching and performing music for many years, primarily as a vocalist, guitarist and pianist.
