Life in a Flask on CD

'Very enjoyable ear candy...energetic on stage' - Dona 'Queen D' (B.C. Music Magazine) 'Their energy was phenomenal and it echoed throughout the crowd...' - Jennifer Dyke (Morning Star) 'Life in a Flask is the best album I've heard in a long time' - Brian Newington (Boost Digital Radio) Have you ever heard or seen something emerge just inside the peripheral of your senses, that for some reason takes you out of character and sparks your curiosity? You can't explain why, but for some very definitive reason you decide to investigate it. Out of the thousands of distractions in your world trying to steal your attention, you hear one thing that speaks to you! This is the goal of every musician out there, and for an ever-growing audience this is the music of Maticulous. Hailing from the beautiful Okanagan Valley, Mat Keller and Matt Wagner are a rare breed of natural musicians. Skilled in playing any and all instruments that they can get their hands on, this duo provides a soundscape of music influenced from around the globe. Although their sound is what the average listener would classify as Hip-Hop, they prefer to call it "World Music" and very rightly so. Their "World" music's universal appeal can be attributed to Mat and Matt's appreciation and songwriting talent in genres ranging from soul and blues to good ol' country-rock & roll. Their 2005 debut release "Life in a Flask" took the hip-hop scene of western Canada by storm, showcasing their talents not only as phenomenal live performers but as business savvy intellectuals as well. Getting airplay from commercial stations KissFM and SunFM in the Interior B.C. as well as many college and internet stations, Maticulous began to creep into the public's eye. Then opening for Big name acts such as K-OS, Moka Only, Sweatshop union and Classified, Maticulous etched their stake in the Canadian hip-hop market from the very start of their music career. With songs like "Big City, Small World" (Their best iTunes seller to date) and "Australian Vacation", Maticulous exemplifies Intelligent and relevant rhymes schemes with an uncanny sense of cadence and rhythm. But not only does Maticulous manage to find ways to put themselves on stage with notable Canadian acts; possibly even more impressive is the fact that they were also the promoters for many of the shows and events they performed at. While touring for "Life in a flask" they stumbled on the opportunity to have Sweatshop Union open for them! Matt Wagner recalls, "The boys from Sweatshop Union had to get back to Vancouver so they asked if they could play before us. It ended up giving us a HUGE break because more of their fans stuck around to see us after; we weren't just an opening act. We were able to reach so many more fans because of that opportunity, so we had to put on an incredible show". This is the story you will hear from any audience member that has ever attended a live Maticulous show, because every time they get on stage you can tell that they are up there speaking to YOU! In an ever-evolving industry, Maticulous is a great example of the "do it yourself and do it better" business model. After their success in B.C. Maticulous decided to make the move to Toronto to begin writing their second set titled, "M-theory". While building a fan base in the music capital of Canada, the Mat(t)s attended the esteemed Metal Works Institute of Sound and Music Production. The title of the upcoming album is inspired by a documentary that they watched together upon arriving in Ontario, which builds on an idea, that all things in the universe are attached by strings and affected by vibrations of those strings. This theory fits in very well with their philosophy of sharing positive and relevant messages in their lyrics, through the vibrations of music. Just being in the presence of these two creators invites an environment where Maticulous catch phrases like "humans can do anything", and "don't limit yourself" affect you in a way that you only wish your mentors had when you were a kid. The world needs a fresh new taste of intelligent world/hip-hop and Maticulous has the formula, but don't just look for their name on the front of their upcoming 2008 release "M-theory", because they will be listed in the liner notes of many other best selling albums under the titles Producer/ Songwriter/ Publisher/ Composer or Manager. So if you hear something you like with an inspiring and intriguing message don't be surprised to see the name MATICULOUS.
