Curtains on CD

Biography Marsupial's fierce improvisational pocket rock is native to Asheville, NC and it's eclectic and progressive musical culture. The band has toured in seven states in the last seven years, playing over 350 shows, and has distributed thousands of live promotional CD's. Marsupial has performed at festivals like Bele Chere and the Flat Rock Music Festival, and clubs such as The Orange Peel, Stella Blue, The Emerald Lounge, and the Pour House. The latest release from Marsupial, 'Curtains', is their third full length studio release. Their previous albums have been featured in Relix Magazine, Honest Tune, Kynd Music, and Mountain Xpress. WNCW radio has kept Marsupial's albums in heavy rotation and featured the band live in three separate studio broadcasts. In 2006, 'Moby Fleck' was listed as #19 on WNCW's Top 100 Regional Albums. Quotes / Reviews One of the hardest working and certainly most talented bands swimming in the crowded and competitive Asheville music Pool, Marsupial is a nimble crew achieving (and deserving) to explode onto the southern jam seas. A highly effective prog 'n' rock dual-guitar attack, Marsupial has tightened and Seasoned it's epic rock the old fashioned way: Via metric tons of live gigs and touring over the last three years-plus. Indeed, the practice has paid off, as these guys exhibit a penchant for tight, directed epic jamming with a purpose. Stuart Gaines ~ Honest Tune Magazine Marsupial creates a combination of hook-laden rock and roll to tightly composed yet loosely flowing jams. The songs that expand your mind on disc possess your synaptic functions entirely when being interpreted live. From the opening jam of the lush Why Are These Pillows Following Ye, off of their debut dancing about architecture, through to the hour-long, 5 song second set Marsupial sets the music blazing. Time signatures change and combine with a stunning rapidity, solos flare and die and songs become moving targets. Dave Terpeny ~ Kyndmusic.com The band operates as a tight-knit family and has a common philosophy of crossing all available musical boundaries. In the past five years this quartet has created a buzz around the southeast U.S. with an eclectic musical vision that melds an improv-heavy mix of jazz-rock and progressive rock with a superior melodic content. This is an outfit with much promise. Mick Skidmore ~ Relix Magazine.
