Fisherman's Patience on CD

For his second CD release, Mark R. Kent goes to the water's edge to bring you 'The Fisherman's Patience,' produced by Jimmy Hunter at Cazador Recording in Los Angeles. Kent takes you sailing with old-time sea chanteys reborn into modern work, as well as a collection of works by some of folk music's finest songwriters: Danny Cox ('Rake and Ramblin' Sailor Lad'), Stan Rogers ('Forty-Five Years'), Mike Heron ('You Get Brighter') and Michael Smith (the renowned folk classic 'The Dutchman'). His original guitar composition 'The Fisherman's Patience' may well be one of the most appropriately-titled pieces of instrumental music you'll ever hear. You can feel the fishing rod balancing in your hand as you listen, surrounded by sounds of nature beautifully portrayed by percussionist Michael Ruiz. Mark, who experienced the fury of Hurricane Katrina from the relative safety of a Mobile, Ala., newspaper office, added an instrumental treatment of 'The Lord's Prayer' as a tribute to the region's long-suffering but courageous populace (who, incidentally, still need our help and prayers). Mark surrounds himself with a strong Los Angeles-based supporting cast in the studio, including Ruiz, Hunter (drums, percussion, bass an backup vocals, plus engineering and mixing), Narda Smith (backup vocals), Jamie Palumbo (classic and electric guitar) and bassists Jesse Stern and Robert Staron. It's all attractively packaged with a front cover photo by Nick Melillo and a layout and design by Celeste Heiter for Paragraphcs of Napa, Calif., featuring outdoor pictures from the remote Tangle Lakes region far above the central Alaskan timberline. Come join Mark in this unique musical journey and discover the virtues of 'Patience.'
