Franko Richmond is a world-class pianist / composer, who is equally at home performing with children, aboriginal shamans, classical- jazz- pop artists, third- world percussionists and dolphins. He has developed a unique 'global fusion' music vision and is at the vanguard of an international audience connected with the NGO/ Civil Society outreach of the United Nations. The protege of two of the world's greatest pianists, classical concert pianist Earl Wild, and jazz legend Ahmad Jamal, Franko began his career as a child prodigy and teen-age international competition pianist. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lycoming College and became Earl Wild's assistant at Penn State University where he earned an M. F. A degree.. Awarded the Mellon Pre-Doctoral Fellowship at the UNiversity of Pittsburgh, Franko Continued advanced studies in electronic music, psycho-acoustics and ethnomusicology. His outstanding professional career has included appearances with major symphony orchestras and many international stars. He is also a recording artist, has co-authored two Broadway shows and written a movie score. Franko's environmental theme song 'The Time Has Come', received international attention at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio, Brazil, where it was featured in the opening and closing concerts and later in 1995 when it was the theme for the 25th anniversary of Earth Day. Franko Richmond is published by Hal Leonard and is a Steinway Artist.
