Off & Runnin' on CD

Mandy Atkins releases her debut CD Off & Runnin' Mandy Atkins may be relatively new to the recording world, but she's far from being a rookie on the music scene. The lead singer of the band "Mendiva", Mandy is well known in Nova Scotia for her strong vocals, insightful writing, and masterful delivery. Mandy has graced the stage of the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition opening for Michelle Wright in Aug 2007, and recently shared the stage with the likes of the Stampeders and the Trews at the 2008 New Glasgow Jubilee. While Off & Runnin' is filled with 10 tracks, many which are of punchy, danceable, new country songs, Atkins is sure to please her fans who also like traditional country with her originals, especially "Change You For Me" which has a classic feel complete with the stand-up bass. "Girls' Night Out" will surely become the quintessential party tune for a night on the town, and "Allison Wonder" has enough "oomph" to blow away even the most discerning country fan. All of the songs on Mandy's album are originals and she has penned herself, with "Working Girl" being co-written by Earl Burgess of Bible Hill, Nova Scotia. The album was an independent project produced by Scott Ferguson of Ferguson Music Productions in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. While Mandy started playing guitar at home at the age of six, she started writing her own songs in her teens. "My sister had a guitar at home and I was just drawn to it," said Atkins. "My Mom knew from the start that I'd end up in the music business. I've always wanted to do it and then, I opened for Michelle Wright last year and that was when I thought I should pursue it seriously." Atkins made the decision and hasn't looked back since. Mandy Atkins has lived in the Truro area her entire life and has previously recorded with her brother, Trent, as the recording team "End of Era" and has played extensively with local country music artist, Earl Burgess. "Off & Runnin' " is a fitting expression for Mandy's growing music career as she continually "wow"s audiences that are just starting to catch a glimpse of what this independent country artist is made of. Watch for Mandy live as she brings her music to a stage near you.
