Sing! Went the Strings of My Heart on CD

On Sing! Went the Strings of My Heart, her debut album, Loretta Cormier shows she is a marvelous interpreter of the lyrics, who also has impeccable phrasing, flawless enunciation, and a warm, natural delivery. Some of the songs are well-known and often heard, such as 'But Not For Me' and 'I'll Remember April;' others may be unfamiliar and rarely played, like 'Why Try to Change Me Now?' and 'The Moon Was Yellow.' But each is a testament to the genius of the composers of the years 1920-1950. The artistry of the musicians cannot be denied: 'hot jazz' emanating from Sebastian Campesi's violin; the impeccable rhythmic blend of Morris Nelms on piano, Darrel Tidaback on bass, and Kyle Keener on drums; the energy and warmth from Cecil Carter's cornet; and the elegance flowing from the alto and tenor saxes of Jay Forte.
