Sunrise on CD

Vocalist, songwriter, and jazz radio host, Lois DeLoatch has a style ALL HER OWN! Her repertoires of both classic and original compositions reflect her deep appreciation for all genres of music, particularly jazz, blues, and spirituals. In recent years, she has headlined concerts and festivals throughout the country opening for and sharing the stage with music legends including Ellis Marsalis, Ed Thigpen, Freddy Cole, and Arturo Sandoval. Drawing comparisons to Nina Simone and Cassandra Wilson, Lois's musical virtuosity and captivating stage presence make for unforgettable performances! Her debut recording, Sunrise, (distributed under her former name, Lois Dawson) consisting of all original compositions received widespread critical acclaim. Her second recording, Closure, has been released in a limited edition, and features three jazz classics as well as six original compositions. Additionally, she is featured on the 2002 independent release, 'Sometimes I Feel...' a collection of Negro Spirituals arranged by Barbara Cooke featuring violinist India Cooke and pianist Marva Cooper. Lois's highly anticipated new release is scheduled for this fall. With artistic interests that span numerous art forms, Lois collaborates with actors, poets, dancers, and visual artists, and constantly seeks new ways to create and present THE music.
