Ghost Town on CD

In her song WALK THE WEST singer/songwriter Linda Johnson explores her innate sense of wanderlust and particularly her love of the 'big blue open skies' of her home in New Mexico. But the opening line 'just a small town girl..' reveals her native roots of south Jersey, blue collar, hard-working, honest familiy ties that reveal as much about the writer/ singer as her palpable love for the west and beyond. At just 6 years old, Linda began to discover her voice by singing at church in that small town and wherever else thay would let her. At 17 she ventured into the country capital of the world, Nashville, where she sang in rock'n'roll and country bands, did jingles for radio and recorded demos for up-and-coming songsmiths. Her rich, sultry voice still carries a hint of that country nuance but as she discovered more and more the music of the south, she became enchanted with it's diverse textures; Mississippi delta blues, Appalachian bluegrass. After penning songs for other singers, she began to write for herself, honing her guitar skills, incorporating alternate tunings into her work, using her fluent Spanish skills to emboldened the idea of place and roots to her songs. This, her first CD, reflects that passion for place and surroundings and their effect on our daily existence and as well as the concepts of love and loss. Beautiful voice, hopeful lyricism, and up and coming songwriter not to be missed.
