About the artists: Jeff Lewis & Dean Keller acoustic duo...Biography/History eclec•tic e-'kelk-tic adj 1: selecting the best in various doctrines, methods or styles 2: the musical backgrounds of Jeff Lewis and Dean Keller Music has been the driving influence in the lives of Jeff Lewis and Dean Keller. Writing and performing his own songs since 1997, Jeff Lewis' professional musical career stretches back over fifteen years, incorporating a broad range of styles and techniques. From his time behind the drums with Awake and Dreaming, where he worked with noted songwriter Chris Trapper (currently of the Push Stars), through his work with the original rock bands The Trade and ElderWilde, Jeff has consistently brought his distinctive approach to each project. A collector of diverse experiences, Jeff has also toured under the Big Top with Circus America and has provided voice talent for the High Falls Laser Show as well as the holiday program at the Strasenburg Planetarium. In his debut self-produced CD, Knee-jerk Apologist, Jeff showcases his songwriting mastery and keen musical sense, creating a collection of songs that are as memorable as they are unique. As a professional musician, Dean Keller has played with such music greats as The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Tito Puente, Ben Vereen and The Temptations. Dean currently performs with One Sweet World, Prime Time Funk and The Dave Rivello Ensemble and he can be heard on the latest self-titled CD from Phantom Planet, including their breakout single, Big Brat. A true multi-instrumentalist, Dean accompanies Jeff on anything from a Fender Rhodes to a bass guitar to a tin whistle and a variety of reed instruments. Experienced private music instructors, Jeff Lewis and Dean Keller share a studio at the Village Gate Square in Rochester, NY. "Would you listen if I whispered way down low, I want to make up all the rules as we go..." Making up the Rules Jeff Lewis & Dean Keller acoustic duo...about the music It's about honesty. Simple. Insightful. Universal. The rich heritage of Folk and Americana. Captured in the lyrics. Reflected in the music. Jeff Lewis' harmonic sense provides a distinctive backdrop for the haunting melodies and poignant lyrics. His heartfelt performances are rooted in the traditions of the singer/songwriter and are enhanced by the subtle accompaniment of multi-instrumentalist Dean Keller. Whether it's saxophones, hand drums, bass guitar, keyboards, bass clarinet or a simple tin whistle, Dean adds the perfect melodic touch to each song. Accomplished musicians with diverse backgrounds, Jeff and Dean have crossed musical paths often - as half of a jazz quartet and in several incarnations of an original rock group. But it's in this latest venture that the duo have found the ideal expression of their shared vision. At coffee houses, festivals, clubs and colleges, Jeff and Dean bring a vision to life. In the unique intimacy of an acoustical setting, Jeff and Dean tailor the instrumentation for each song, drawing forth the truest meaning of each composition, a meaning as multifaceted as the artists themselves. From the deep quiet solitude of a passionate ballad to the head-bobbing, toe-tapping joy of a good ol' rock and roll tune, Jeff Lewis and Dean Keller take listeners places they had always hoped existed. "Because once the band begins to play, you won't remember where we're from - Don't you know there's a magic In my favorite song?"
