Mysteries of Life on CD

It may seem unusual that a musician whose career has spanned more than 20 years should be the releasing minimally his third album, but when you consider that this man is reggae singer and guitarist, Larry White, then perhaps that time frame makes more sense. White, a proclaimed 'reggaeologist,' appeared at The Conduit, 439, S. Broad St., Trenton, on Sunday, Jan. 19, for an extremely successful (450 in attendance) album release party and concert to celebrate the arrival of 'Mysteries of Life,' his third CD. The hometown appearance - White a longtime Trenton resident -- was a rare one for the traveling musician. Having worked as a musician at 'Studio One' - the legendary Jamaican music label where much of the foundation of modern reggae music was laid- White cut his teeth early on prestigious ground, playing in the same studio that was home to artists such Bob Marley & the Wailers, Dennis Brown, Lee Perry, the Heptones and the Maytals. That experience prepared him to write, arrange and produce several of the tracks that would appear on his first two albums, 'Live and Let Live' and 'Love Light,' as well as his new release, 'Mysteries of Life.' Additionally, several original singles had been released including; 'Peace Love and Unity, Don't Fight the Feelin',Come Over Tonight, News Flash and covers In the Rain and Wildflower on the Weed Beat and Factstract labels. White, a dynamic vocalist and deft guitarist, is known for a versatility that never compromises his musical integrity. In his hands and with the backing of his Majestic Roots band, rock steady, lovers rock, roots and culture and dance hall reggae all seem his own, even when he is delivering treasured favorites and covers. During the last two decades, in between what may seem like sporadic album projects, White has kept a hectic schedule, touring worldwide as the lead guitarist with some of the industry''s best reggae acts, including Freddie McGregor, Judy Mowatt (formerly of the I-threes), Culture, Gregory Isaacs, the Meditations, Frankie Paul and Sister Carol to name a few. He is also a regular at the Jersey shore and in Philadelphia and at area colleges. Larry White and the Majestic Roots Band are an excellent choice for any upcoming concert, festival, tour that is true to the ever living, ever faithful Reggae audience.
