Description

Goddess Fading on CD

Goddess Fading is Landon's first solo record since parting ways with his former collective, the Ultimate, in 2007. In the lag time, he has been weaving his apocalyptic daydreams into an album that is at once familiar and elusive, like the fragments of a dream you've been trying to remember since you woke up. It is also a portrait of a soul in search of answers to unasked questions, chasing clouds and stars as he does in '4th World Blues,' just trying to find someone or something to help him put this life into perspective. As Landon sings in title track, 'as she turns, she leaves behind the memory you seek to find...I call to you Goddess Fading from my mind, dancing rhythms, bending time.' No one knows the manipulation of clock and map like Landon Marcus. An expert drifter, he has wandered the deserts and plains for years, traveled the high seas, sending back telegraphs to those of us back on the shore. The sky and the earth may be enough for some, but for a shape-shifting child of the universe, the physical realm is merely a jumping-off point. As you take in the landscape of each song on Goddess Fading, you get the sense of being in a place you tried to run to once-or perhaps a place you've yet to visit. He brings with him an outlaw band comprised Jim Bertini (drums, percussion), Gerald Menke (pedal Steel), Ben Sherman (guitar, vocals), Caitlin Tinsley (cello, vocals), David Ellison (mandolin), and Eric Margan (bass).
