Bill's music experience began during high school when his mom enrolled him in piano lessons. Bill's interest and enthusiasm for playing grew to the point of enjoyment without external prompt. Recitals, competitions, even practicing became reasons to live. He was on track for a career in music. That all changed following a competition where Bill was awarded second place, though he deemed he was the best and deserved winner. This devastating event led him to immediately cease all practice and playing of the piano for any reason, changed career goals, and college choice. It would be ten years before he played again. After resuming play and lessons, Bill participated in a few recitals, with only a desire to improve his skill, not necessarily to win. His desire to learn to play by ear led him to several teachers over the years with gradual enhancement of his abilities. Writing the birthday song was prompted by his oldest daughter's birthday party in 2007. During the festivities, everyone was called together to sing the birthday song, Happy Birthday to You. "No, it's about time for a new song. I've been singing this song all my life. Somebody should write a new song", Bill thought to himself. At a retreat later that month, Bill used a 90 minute time period to write some words for a new birthday song. Over the next few months he refined the words and put it all to music, with the title - The Birth of You. Aren\'t you ready for an alternative birthday song that is easy to sing and remember. The next song, Couldn't Love You More, was prompted by reflecting on various love songs over the years, a bit of fantasy and intrigue. Over the Christmas and New Year holiday of 2007, while he and his wife were in Texas, visiting her dad, the words and music came together. You might find yourself saying, I wish I had thought of this one. The vocal artist on these songs is Lakisha Dawn Neely Yirenkyi. She is the third child of Bill and Edwina. Lakisha was born singing it seems. Music was part of her being. She made up her own songs, and eagerly learned the songs of others. In high school she was a member of a singing group that was quite popular on her campus. In college she was a member of the gospel choir. This was a welcome addition to her being. After graduate school, she became the worship coordinator of a congregation her pastored. Her vocal, writing and composition abilities blossomed. She has written numerous songs, and led the choral group in many experiences that have lasting impact of their lives. She is delighted to sing the songs her father wrote.
