On Her Dream on CD

***WE WILL BE DONATING 20% OF ALL CD SALES IN JANUARY 2009 AND FEBRUARY 2009 TO LARKIN STREET YOUTH SERVICES. THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING A WORTHY CAUSE!*** 'On Her Dream' is Kim Baker's debut release on Earthwater Records. With seven-time Grammy nominated producer Cookie Marenco at the helm, the CD features the seamless blending of an eclectic array of songs best described as 'thoughtful rock.' The sound is a combination of honest and insightful lyrics delivered in a driving, folk-rock package. Kim makes her musicianship and songwriting accessible to the masses with her melodic and acoustic guitar-rooted songs. Kim grew up in southern California and took interest in music at an early age. She learned to play the piano at age 8 and began playing guitar and writing songs in high school. By age 15, she had committed herself seriously to a future in music, and at age 18 departed for Mills College in Oakland, CA where she earned a degree in music. Within a year of her graduation, and after finishing an internship at Polygram Group Distribution (a major record label distributor), Kim founded Earthwater Records, and began to perform music professionally. Through two national tours in support of 'On Her Dream,' Baker has performed at venues across the country, including highlights such as a guest appearance on the nationally syndicated radio program 'Acoustic Cafe,' whose surrounding lineup included acoustic greats Nanci Griffith and the Indigo Girls. Kim has also been written up in the LA Times, Chicago Tribune, and Mediaweek Magazine, both about her experiences on tour, and her involvement with CD sales on the internet through Liquid Audio and Amazon.com. Since releasing 'On Her Dream,' Kim has released two CDs with musical partner Krista Enos under the name 'Kim & Krista': 'Keep On' (2001), and 'Rising Tide' (2003). Sean Lineweaver of WHFC Baltimore radio has been spinning 'On Her Dream' since it's release and considers Kim well on her way to national recognition. He raves, 'Kim Baker is one of Crossroads favorite new talents. Songs like 'Promised Land' and 'Encircled by Angels' are just proof of her outstanding talent.'
