On Thursday We Leave for Home
- Artist: Kill Bosby
- Format: CD
- Release Date:11/13/2007
Omaha's Kill Bosby has seen a slew of lineup changes since initially forming in Iowa City, IA in late 2003, but has always remained the brainchild of brothers Damon and Dane-Mychal Marvin, oft-noted for their spot-on vocal harmonies and melodic songwriting. After only a handful of shows and a few basement demos, the brothers called it quits only to reunite a year later in their current Nebraska setting. With Wisconsin native Tim Knowles on bass and a successive chain of drummers lengthy enough to make Spinal Tap cry, Kill Bosby ended 2005 on a high note with the release of their first full-length record, the self-titled Kill Bosby. Shortly thereafter, Joseph Chavanu filled the void left by previous Kill Bosby drummers and the band began to gel, writing material for the first time as a wholly stable lineup. Eighteen months later in June 2007, Kill Bosby began to record 'On Thursday We Leave for Home', a 5-track EP whose content is inspired by the 1963 episode of The Twilight Zone that bears it's name. The record ultimately became a more cohesive and consistent release than their earlier effort and allowed Kill Bosby to at long last secure itself as an alternative pop/rock band, casting aside the piano-based numbers, acoustic ballads & whaling tunes that comprised their eclectic debut. Recorded at Omaha's Ware House Productions, Inc. By Jim Homan and mastered by Doug Van Sloun (Bright Eyes), 'On Thursday We Leave for Home' finds Kill Bosby at home with soaring guitar riffs, melodic hooks and layered vocal harmonies that recall Brian Wilson or Simon & Garfunkel plastered over the anthemic rock canvas which has helped define bands like Jimmy Eat World, Weezer, and Green Day. Omaha City Weekly music columnist Marq Manner deems the record one that is 'destined to be stuck in the listener's head'. To celebrate the release of 'On Thursday We Leave for Home' on October 20th, 2007, Kill Bosby played to an enthusiastic crowd at The Waiting Room Lounge in Omaha.
