Harmony on CD

Mix copious amounts of pop with a spoonful of R&B and stir in some funk. Then marinate it all in a background of jazz influenced by some of music's greatest artists and you'll find that Kevin Brando is clearly his own recipe. 'I believe music should be both cerebral and visceral,' Kevin explains. The result is a combination that moves listeners and gives them something to think about. Influenced by his father and older brother, both accomplished jazz trombonists, Kevin blew his first note at sixteen months of age. He began performing before audiences at the age of two, singing and playing the trombone in hotels his parents operated in Texas and Louisiana. Kevin eventually toured supper clubs all the way to Los Angeles where he made his television debut performing on Disney's New Mickey Mouse Club when he was only five years old. That led to childhood appearances in feature films and television, including lending his singing voice to Charlie Brown in two animated musical specials for CBS, and he can still be heard at Disneyland as the voice of Pinocchio in Fantasyland's 'Pinocchio's Daring Journey' ride. But, through it all a passion for music stirred within him. He constantly sang and played his horn while growing up, and as his muse developed he taught himself to play the keyboard, with strong influence from the likes of Stevie Wonder and Billy Joel. As his skills grew, he began getting calls to play and or/sing for others. Over the years, Kevin has performed with a variety of notable groups and artists, from Christina Aguilera to the Motels. 'What I love about R&B music is the groove... The soul it has. But the problem is it so rarely has anything to say anymore,' explains Brando. 'Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye... those guys gave you something to think about while you moved your body. I'm just trying to be true to that.' With the funky groove of classic Stevie, Kevin blends the intellectual influence of artists like Sting to create a melange of smoothe pop hooks with meaning and movement. 'I'm out to shake your booty AND your mind,' says Brando, who enjoys every opportunity to share his unique recipe with anyone hungering for a taste of something new.
