Hip Jazz on CD

Kenny Perez (legal name: Joseph Kennedy B. Perez) Musician and Songwriter debut in 2002. Keyboards, composer, recording engineer, arranging, mixing, producing Joe, who also goes by his family name, Kenny, and is used as a stage name for his 2002 debut music project entitled Hip Jazz, is of Philippine and Spanish descent. Kenny was introduced to the drums at age 5 by a band member in his older brother's band. At age 13, Kenny began playing in high school bands and entered his first battle of the bands at the Dovre Club in San Francisco, competing against bands that included the top three rated cover bands at the time such as, Silk N Soul . School wise, Kenny learned to play the violin, cello and clarinet as part of the school orchestra. At grade 9, Kenny was handpicked by a member of the Johnny Rojo family Orchestra to be a replacement percussionist and backup drummer. Kenny's first live stage performance with the Rojo Orchestra was on the percussions and with no practice. Playing the instruments came natural to him. Kenny began learning bass guitar at 14 and his first live performance as a bassist was for an AT&T Corporate holiday event. Kenny's earliest experimentation with songwriting and recording was at age 15 and consisted of his older brother's Tascam equipment, and using live drum and bass audio sources. Kenny's next foray into modern music making included MIDI programming, and DAWs such as Cubasis and ProTools. Kenny's resume includes live drumming and bass guitar performances at festivals, weddings, corporate functions and at nightclubs in the bay area and other venues in Southern California and Nevada. His resume includes a self-produced 2002 CD called Hip Jazz which is currently still in circulation among various distribution channels and earning royalties. Kenny does not have any live performance experience as a keyboardist. He is completely self-taught on keyboards, song writing, recording, arranging, mixing and producing. Kenny is currently returned to the world of music and songwriting in 2014, alongside a partner and vocalist. Together, they have created DesiJoe Music, and as of this writing, 8/13/2014, have currently broken into Reverb Nation's top 10 local pop charts for Las Vegas Nevada, with their hit, 'When I C Ya (Tomorrow)', featuring lyricist, vocalist and songwriting partner, Desiree Sarmiento. What other musicians have said about Kenny's music. 'First listen, reminded me of how I feel, when I listen to Earl Klugh. Your universal language is very dead on. Like the way only Carlos Santana can make you feel, by just playing.' - Ricky Boy, Circle of Friends, Folk and Progressive Rock Band on MP3.COM ~ ~ ~ 'I've been checking out your craft. I like the work that you've put down. You have a good ear for blending different elements to create your flavor, like your synths and acoustic piano work on 'Missing you.' You lay down some provocative tracks that fit easily into my 'kick back in my Blue Room' mood.' - Karl Bullard, R&B / Soul Artist on MP3.Com ~ ~ ~ 'Yeah I listened to 'Sugar Rush', definitely electronic, but not techno, more towards hard dance, I do techno, trance, drum and base and down tempo. I like the song, try it out as a hard dance track and see where it goes.' - Snaplok, Electronica / Techno Artist on MP3.COM ~ ~ ~ 'Thanks for letting me know about your music. I really enjoyed listening to your sounds.' - Doug Payne, Music Critic, All About Jazz ~ ~ ~ 'The music sounds great and is very well recorded.' - Des O'Connor, Keyboard Genelab Plus. ~ ~ ~ '(Missing U) is a nice collage of sounds. The piano riffs on Hip Jazz is pretty cool and the smokey background keys are gorgeous. (Searching) I liked this straight away-the phased keys are lovely and the chord change is sublime..I LOVE that change!...Very evocative and creates a mood I can't quite put my finger on. (Sugar Rush) is pretty cool...Very intense and trippy...A pumpin' airy vibe..Intelligent techno-interesting!' - Steve Ison, Glam/Indie Artist on MP3.COM ~ ~ ~ 'Hey Kenny! I like your music, it's straightforward and very funky. I especially like 'Jazzalicious', 'Sugar Rush', and 'Missing U' (my favorite, very mellow and moody). Take care and keep on rockin'.' - R.S. Cain, Blues-Rock Artist on MP3.COM.
