'katie the pest is the feeling of falling in and out of love over and over and over again. The adrenaline rush of emotions that only happens to the luckiest of people. She is the warm completeness of falling asleep in the arms of someone you love and the super sick realization of waking up alone without that someone everyday for the rest of your life. Self destructive and naïve, katie the pest will find a million ways to break yer heart.' - Katie The Pest Long Beach, California's own Banner Day is a five-piece rock band. They have emerged as veterans of the Los Angeles rock & pop scene through five years of tours, shows and releases. Banner Day has shared the stage with such acts as Palo Alto, Rilo Kiley, and Dios Malos at such venues as the Troubadour, the Knitting Factory, Koo's Café and countless other bars and coffee houses around Southern California. They have also logged time on the road with tours of the western United States. After self-releasing their own EP, Volcano, Banner Day joined Toy Records to release a split record with the girl garage rock duo Katie the Pest, as well as the upcoming Following Stars EP. Earlier incarnations of the band were said to have been comparable to bands like Jimmy Eat World, Pavement and Television, blending styles of punk, pop and rock. Recent member shifts have guided them in a different direction. Now more of a stripped down approach has taken Banner Day's sound into a new realm in the footsteps of Paul Westerberg or the New Amsterdams. Stronger emphasis on solid songwriting and creative instrumentation have brought Banner Day into it's peak.
