Rice Beans & Collard Greens on CD

The band was born out of the Florida Treasure Coast Open Mic 'circuit'. Combining Reggae, Latin and Acoustic Rock influences, Jomico creates a crowd-pleasing, bilingual sound. The two different songwriting styles of Cody and Jose end up being (oddly enough) complimentary while Mike's percussion holds it all together. In the spring of 2004, singer/guitarists Jose and Cody were playing acoustic solo sets, of mostly original songs, at a couple of Open Mic nights in Downtown Stuart, FL. Mike, one of the leaders of the Stuart Drum Circle, hung out at these Open Mic nights and occasionally sat in with Cody as a percussionist with his African djembe drum. Cody was looking for a bass player to compliment his reggae-influenced sound and Jose stepped in. He blew the dust off his old bass and all three started jamming. The band played their first gig at a 4th of July 2004 party in Rio, FL. They had no name, made no money and ended up playing to about 5 people. It was a blast! After a couple of weeks, Cody picked up the bass and started playing along to Jose's music, effectively doubling the group's repertoire. Then hurricanes Frances and Jeanne hit Florida. Cody moved back to Alabama. Jose's job forced him to go on hurricane duty for 3 months. Mike quit smoking. Things were a mess! Their music took a break for a while. Jose got back to the Treasure Coast around November of 2004, hooked up with Mike and started hitting the Open Mic nights again. In March of 2005, Cody came back from Alabama. The guys started jamming again and finally came up with the name Jomico. They've been gigging ever since.
